The Ellen Rice Gallery was born 14 years ago out of Ellen’s desire to create a quiet, beautiful environment near her coastal Delaware home where she could exhibit her paintings and people could browse at their leisure, take a deep breath and find peace and inspiration.
One of the Mid-Atlantic’s most collected painters, she started the gallery with a small collection of her paintings and prints and the handmade creations of a handful of artisans she knew whose work she loved. While her art remains the hub of the gallery, today The Ellen Rice Gallery offers the handmade creations of more than 140 of America’s finest artisans, many of whom are well recognized among fine American craft collectors.
The gallery has a reputation for one-on-one, personal service, excellence in workmanship at fair prices, and is a NICHE Top Retailer Award finalist. Though gallery space is not large, Ellen’s paintings of the sea, the coast, her people and scenery across the country transport visitors beyond the walls, while the uncluttered environment lets artisans’ creations speak for themselves, inviting exploration.
